Another month, another huge set of achievements.
August is the month for summer holidays, but there were no holidays for the Rogues team. We kept working, and delivering for the Rogues community!
July 2023 was a productive month as you probably saw in our July update:
And so was August 2023. This article covers the key achievements in the past one month, and is not an exhaustive list. Hereโs what Rogues Studio did in August 2023.

๐ Launched Lootboxes
Our first big achievement in August was the launch of the Lootbox mechanic in game.
Finding a lootbox is a rare surprise. Every time players fish, gather wood, flax or stone, they have a chance to get a super rare Lootbox! These boxes contain rewards that will help players in-game.

The Lootboxes have been a massive hit with our players, and we've seen a lot of happy people in our Discord, especially those that won Rare items, MATIC or NEAR tokens!
The odds of getting a Lootbox are super rare. Itโs not us, but the Algorithm Gods of Vulpgard who decide who will get it ๐

Note: The Lootbox mechanic is getting discontinued, with last occurance in the gaming session on Sunday 03 August at 8PM UTC.
Launched Fishing Tournaments ๐ฃ
Next up, we launched Fishing Tournaments, which allow players to compete with each other to catch the best rewards from the lake.
The Fishing Tournaments happen every Wednesday & Saturday, at both 12PM UTC and 8PM UTC. The prizes for participants are displayed in the panel to the left of the screen, along with the fishing leaderboard.

Unlocked Crafting ๐ ๏ธ
We unlocked Crafting in the game! This feature allows players to create their own items using the resources they gather in the game. Crafting has been a highly requested feature from our community, and we're delighted to have been able to deliver it to them.
How to unlock the crafting bench and start crafting?
For anyone getting into the game now, please go to the market trader, and complete the quest heโs giving you to unlock the crafting bench and crafting.
You will need to complete 10 quests per fox to unlock it. Itโs important to note that:
a. The Crafting Unlock quest is an individual quests, meaning you need to do all 10 quests yourself! Your mates canโt help you this time :)
b. The Crafting functionality is per fox, not per wallet! This means that you have 20 foxes, you need to unlock the crafting bench 20 times!

Won the Marketing DAO grant ๐ฃ๏ธ
In addition to our in-game developments, we're also proud to have won a grant from the Nearโs Marketing DAO. This grant is to cover marketing activities between August and September. It will be used for marketing of World of Rogues, as well as other activities in the NEAR ecosystem, such as Nearโs Blockchain Operating System and the NDC elections happening soon.
This is a great achievement as the proposals equalled $203k+ and only $46k was given (between all proposals, of course). It also shows the "enthusiasm I have seen for Rogues in the community at large", as noted by one DAO Council.

Zealy Season 3 just launched, this time with more rewards than ever!

Heroes of the Flow Game Work
A super significant technical achievement in August has been the laying of the foundations of our new game, Heroes of the Flow. Morgan worked tirelessly for weeks to complete the following work so that we can continue building the game:
01. On-chain levelling
The main characters in Heroes of the Flow that fight are called minions, and come in packs. The on-chain levelling means that the minions can be adjustable by admin during testing, and this is what Morgan has already built on Flow!
02. On-chain heroes stats
In addition to on-chain levelling, we've also introduced on-chain heroes stats in Heroes of the Flow. The heroes level up over the course of play and higher level heroes have premium appearance and special effects. Morgan has developed a functionality to work on chain.

03. Asset creation
Our superstar artist Simone single-handledly created all the art for Heroes of the Flow, including all 36 minions!!!

We're incredibly proud of what our team has been able to achieve in the past month of August. From the launch of Lootboxes and Fishing Tournaments in World of Rogues, to putting the foundations of Heroes of the Flow, we've delivered some truly exciting new features and content to our web 3 gaming business.
